{"id":381,"date":"2025-11-03T04:13:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T04:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aafc.us.org\/?p=381"},"modified":"2025-11-03T04:13:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T04:13:47","slug":"anniversary-of-the-atomic-bombings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aafc.us.org\/index.php\/anniversary-of-the-atomic-bombings\/","title":{"rendered":"Anniversary of the Atomic Bombings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Sanjana Kumar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Asian-American Friendship Congress<\/strong> pays its respects and condolences to the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings on August 6<sup>th<\/sup> and 9<sup>th<\/sup> respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an organization that represents working class interests of Asian-American peoples, we recognize the dangers of atomic warfare and demand that all countries and organizations world-wide use nuclear energy <strong>responsibly<\/strong> \u2013 firstly to prevent <strong>Mutually Assured Destruction<\/strong><strong>(MAD)<\/strong> for the human race, and secondly to use nuclear energy to better the lives of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We demand proper education of the past history of <strong>n<\/strong><strong>uclear energy<\/strong>, including eliminating any <strong>whitewashing<\/strong> of historical facts and important documents. We seek teaching the working class public of what truly occurred during the bombings of August 6<sup>th<\/sup> and 9<sup>th<\/sup> in 1945. The Truman Administration dropped the atomic bomb on Japan in order to <strong>\u201cintimidate<\/strong>\u201d the Soviet Union by launching the first nuclear strikes of the <strong>Cold War<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Empire of Japan<\/strong> had already drafted terms of surrender to the <strong>Soviet Union<\/strong>; therefore, the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unnecessary acts of mass murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Asian-Americans<\/strong> are peace-loving \u2013 we want prosperity for our colleagues, friends, and families!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We say no to a <strong>second Cold War<\/strong>, no to actions that encourage <strong>atomic and nuclear warfare<\/strong>, and no to misusing <strong>n<\/strong><strong>uclear energy<\/strong>!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nuclear energy<\/strong> should be used responsibly for
