The Asian-American Friendship Congress pays its respects and condolences to the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings on August 6th and 9th respectively.
As an organization that represents working class interests of Asian-American peoples, we recognize the dangers of atomic warfare and demand that all countries and organizations world-wide use nuclear energy responsibly – firstly to prevent Mutually Assured Destruction(MAD) for the human race, and secondly to use nuclear energy to better the lives of the people.
We demand proper education of the past history of nuclear energy, including eliminating any whitewashing of historical facts and important documents. We seek teaching the working class public of what truly occurred during the bombings of August 6th and 9th in 1945. The Truman Administration dropped the atomic bomb on Japan in order to “intimidate” the Soviet Union by launching the first nuclear strikes of the Cold War.
The Empire of Japan had already drafted terms of surrender to the Soviet Union; therefore, the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unnecessary acts of mass murder.
Asian-Americans are peace-loving – we want prosperity for our colleagues, friends, and families!
We say no to a second Cold War, no to actions that encourage atomic and nuclear warfare, and no to misusing nuclear energy!!
Nuclear energy should be used responsibly for improving the lives of working class peoples!
